Nursing Scholarships

The purpose of the Healthcare & Nursing Education Foundation Scholarship Program is to provide academic financial assistance to individuals who demonstrate the desire and ability to pursue a professional nursing career in the Greater Houston community and who have demonstrated financial need.

Applications from qualified individuals for a nursing scholarship are accepted anytime, but are reviewed by the Scholarship Committee during the Spring semester of each year. Scholarships are awarded for the academic year beginning with the Fall semester, and recipients can receive subsequent year continuation scholarships with acceptable academic performance and continuing financial need.

Applications Closed – Nursing scholarship applications for the 2008-2009 academic year are now closed. Scholarships are awarded based on academics, leadership ability, community involvement, financial need, and commitment to pursuing a nursing career. Students selected will be awarded up to $3,000 per year (up to $4,500 if their nursing program requires summer session classes) to be used for tuition, books, and fees at Houston area colleges and universities providing programs leading to a nursing degree.

Scholarships are awarded to students

	who have graduated from high school and will be attending an accepted undergraduate program in preparation for entry into an accredited college program leading to a bachelor’s degree in nursing,
	who have been accepted into an accredited bachelor’s-level nursing program in which community health service practicum is included in the curriculum, or
	who have been accepted into an accredited graduate-level nursing program leading to a master's degree in nursing or a Nurse Practitioner degree.
